Zuck Gets Scolded

- April 18, 2018 -

Last Tuesday, Mark Zuckerberg sat in the hot seat and faced a congressional hearing about whether his company adequately protects Facebook users' data.

Twitter blew up when two pages of his notes were shared thousands of times after a photographer captured them.

And interestingly enough investors seemed to like Zuck's debut on Capitol Hill...Facebook stock ended up 4.5% on Tuesday and up another 1.5% in trading Wednesday.

Just in case you're not up to speed on what the whole brouhaha was all about...

Cambridge Analytica, a data firm with ties to President Donald Trump's campaign, accessed information from as many as 87 million Facebook users without their knowledge.

Do I care?

Personally...I don't share my daily comings and goings, meals, feelings, or thoughts on social media so no loss there. Lol

But that's not the point...

Is Facebook too bruised or broken to use as a reliable traffic source for marketers?

To be seen.

Zuckerberg apologized and promised to do better....basically offered himself up as a scapegoat.

He didn't rule out a paid add-free version of Facebook in the future. But didn't confirm either.

Did the government get their pound of flesh they were after?

It's uncertain.

As a marketer and business owner, I'm not big on uncertainty...

...and relying on a primary source of traffic (whether that is Google or Facebook) that government has the power to cut off.

As an entrepreneur and marketer, the number "1" should be something to avoid:

+ Not having a backup computer...Cheryl experienced that joy last week.

+ Relying on a single employee to be your resident Infusionsoft expert...what happens when they leave you high and dry along with your database?

+ Counting on one major client's business for the bulk of your monthly income.

So back to Facebook as a source for leads...

If you sell B2B, I'm talking to you...

In working more and more with B2B companies, Facebook has always been a challenge to find good leads that fit their criteria.

B2C...Facebook shines. At least for now with privacy taking a front row thanks to Mr. Zuckerberg.

But if you're a B2B business, Facebook is a crap shoot...

So we've been busy the last nine months perfecting an automated solution that can work independently (or with Infusionsoft.)

+ It mines compliant data

+ Cleans that data...

+ Deploys a personalized email about your offer to that list on a TBD schedule (Can-SPAM compliant and all outside of Infusionsoft.)

+ Interested leads are directed to a customized landing page that features a professionally produced sales video describing your offer.

All done for you. On a regular basis.
