I'm taking off soon to spend the Fourth with my family...now that my dad is gone, time with my mom means even more.
And if you're also traveling over the next few days, safe travels!
But before I head out...the holiday got me thinking about the freedom we all have as entrepreneurs.
The freedom to set our own schedule...ironically, because we love what we do, we often don't take enough time off. (Can you relate?)
The freedom to design the lifestyle we want.
It's a day to celebrate all the sacrifices you've made to "purchase" that freedom:
...the personal cost of staying up late and getting up early.
...the sweat equity in hustling for every new customer.
...the financial cost from risking your assets on a venture with no hard guarantees.
Often in the face of adversity.
Often in the face of repeated failure and disappointment.
Often in the face of criticism from your peers and family who don't "get" what drives you to do what you do.
Never giving up but still working day in and day out to turn your vision into a reality.
I remember the exact day I decided to go out on my own as a mortgage broker.
Nervous as hell but so ready to call my own shots.
Take a minute tomorrow to remember how you felt the day you declared your independence!
It took a lot of courage and a little insanity 🙂
Bottom line...it's you, the entrepreneur who creates money in our economy.
It's you who creates new jobs...especially as the virtual workplace changes the way we all do business. (Even us dinosaurs!)
It's you who pays the taxes. (I still hate April 15th.)
If it weren't for YOU, we'd have nothing to celebrate.
Enjoy the next few days with friends and family!
