You've got Match.com.
...and eharmony
...Coffee Meets Bagel
...Tinder
...SilverSingles
...Over70Dating (There's seriously a site for this?)
There's even a site called "EliteSingles" where they claim that more than 2/3 of their members hold either a bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree.
I do have a point to all this.
Yesterday we were making some changes to our Request a Consult page and a thought dawned on me...
Think about it for a minute, people.
You Home page is your shot at giving a great first impression. And you get a very small window of time to answer these three questions:
Let's assume you make a good first impression and your visitor "swipes right." Where do they go next?
They go right to your About Us page, the 2nd most viewed page of a website.
The page where you add your most flattering mug shot...admit it, it's usually outdated.
And brag a little (or a lot) about your background.
Possibly list your hobbies.
And leave an email or phone number in case someone wants to connect.
See...it's a dating site! And that's your profile page.
And according to digital agency Blue Acorn, visitors to your "About Us" page are five times more likely to become a customer. Interesting, huh?
Next?
If your visitor still hasn't swiped LEFT, where do they head?
Depends on what you're selling.
The higher the price of your services, either the Contact or Request a Consultation page.
These pages are high real estate. Use them well.
Here's where if you position yourself right, you'll attract the right people.
The kind of people you want to chat with. Learn more about. See if you're a good fit.
So if you're going to give away 30 minutes of your time in a free consult, that page has got to sift and sort big time.
Baby steps. No proposals on the first date.
You've got to make it very clear what kind of customers, clients, businesses will make for the best relationship with you.
Guaranteed there will be a different vibe on Over70Dating than PlentyOfFish.
What kind of vibe does your site give off? Are you self-segmenting enough?
Interesting Trivia: Well-known Internet marketer (and one of our early mentors) Eben Pagan had a 25M dollar online dating-advice-for-men business under the pseudonym David DeAngelo between 2001 and 2010.
And it's no wonder that his pick-up advise was spot on given his skill in marketing.
In his very first ebook, David DeAngelo emphasized two approaches he's taken to provide the best dating advice to guys:
Remember the other day when I said that no matter what business you think you're in...you're really in the business of "bonding"?
You're in the "relationship" business.
You're in the DATING business!
So...wanna meet for coffee?
