Numbers Don't Lie

- January 25, 2018 -

Numbers don't lie.

One of my good buddies was in deep debt.

Not a few thousand...I mean some real serious numbers staring him in the face.

A combination of living beyond his means, making some bad investments, and not having a savings plan had resulted in huge credit card debt.

He was behind on his mortgage payments and in danger of losing their home.

He and his wife were totally overwhelmed and stressed out.

I'm a numbers guy. And I wanted to help.

And so I crunched numbers. For several hours, I ran amortization schedules.

If they just followed the plan I put together for them, they could avoid bankruptcy.

And because I'm a contrarian...

I told them to do the OPPOSITE of what most people would have told them.

Most financial experts will tell you to pay off the largest debt first.

WRONG!

You pay off the smallest first. Why?

It's the "snowball" effect...a snowball starts out small and as it gains momentum, it gets bigger and builds and builds up speed.

So you should be doing this...

+ Pay as much as possible on the smallest debt while making the minimum payments on the larger debts.

+ When that debt is paid off, roll what you were paying on that debt to the next highest and continue paying the minimum on the remaining debts.

+ Rinse and repeat.

People, it works. Plain and simple.

When you literally see a debt gone -- out of your life forever -- you can see progress. You see light at the end of the tunnel.

You do your own version of my middle-aged-man happy dance...and we'll leave that alone LOL

It's like crossing off your "To-Do" list...it's a mental thing but we like crossing sh** off.

Done!

Not a happy ending to this story, though...my buddy didn't listen.

He filed for bankruptcy and his house foreclosed.

And it could have been avoided.

Numbers don't lie. Focus on the smallest debt first.

You know I'm going to flip this, don't you? 🙂

So here's what most of us do...

We send a broadcast to as many on our list as possible because then the odds of a conversion are better. Right?

Granted, a lot of us go one step further and segment so that we at least target the right people in our list. That's better.

But what we should actually be doing is focusing on those who are the most engaged...

The email openers, the clickers.

And that's probably a mighty small ratio of your entire list.

But they are the ones who are engaging with you. They are in our "debt" so to speak...we owe them our time and attention.

Start there and monetize that list first.

Next, run a re-engagement campaign and those who still don't engage Unsubscribe them. I didn't say, delete. Unsubscribe.

It's not easy to prune, but it's necessary for growth and the health of the email address you send from.

This is exactly what our Engagement Maximizer from our Campaign Recipe Series will do for you. This is for you if...

  • You've wanted an Email Preference Center of your own but just haven't had the time to create one.
  • You know you should be pruning the "Unengaged" from your list but don't have the time, tools, or know-how to get it all started.
  • You don't want to pay a lot for an expert to do everything - but you know you're losing money every day because your leads and customers aren't engaging with you.

Our Campaign Recipe Series was created for Infusionsoft users who need help with the campaign strategy and the framework - but can do the finishing touches to make it their own.

The Engagement Maximizer includes a bonus "Hard Bounce Recovery" campaign that automatically checks to see if the contact has a phone number so that a task can be assigned for someone to call and request another email address.

And for the next few days, use the promo code ENGAGE25 to get a 25% discount

The numbers won't get any better than that...and I'm not lying!
