Is this some brilliant marketing or what?
If I walked past this sign on a hot summer day, I'd take them up on their offer purely out of appreciation for the creativity and fun factor.
And give away the "free" beer to somebody who looked like they could use it 🙂
Think about it...the ad did its job.
It made you stop.
It made you think.
It made you chuckle.
You either said to yourself, "Self...yeah, I am freaking hot and could use a beer. These guys seem pretty cool!"
Or you think, "Shoot...if I didn't have a meeting across town in 5 minutes, I'd stop and grab a beer. But I'll be sure to check 'em out next time I'm here."
This is the kind of marketing that's missing today in my opinion.
What I see instead is a lot of spasmodic, hit-or-miss, and vanilla (aka boring) marketing.
What happens when you stop?
Tweeting.
Snapping.
Insta-gramming.
Posting in groups.
Going live.
Sliding into DM's (have no idea what that is but my nieces say it's a thing.)
Pestering people you don't know on LinkedIn.
Seriously.
What happens if you get sick? (Or your assistant in charge of what I like to call "keypad" marketing gets sick?)
Or you want to take a well-deserved afternoon off?
Or enjoy the holiday?
Or hang with your friends or family?
Or you wake up one day and decide you're over it all?
Then what?
Because nobody can keep that kind of pace forever.
And even if you could, how do you scale?
Go live 10 times a day?
Join 10 more Facebook Groups?
A better question to ask: Is all this working?
If you're seeing a return...
AND you enjoy this herky-jerky type of marketing, keep going.
ONE thing that you put mindful effort into creating...with the goal to engage your audience.
ONE thing that will grab their attention. Make them stop and think. Make them laugh, ponder, relate.
ONE think that will keep you top of mind if they aren't ready to take the next step yet.
That ONE thing might be an email (our choice for most days) or a blog post or a radio spot or a Facebook Live video or a podcast.
But it has to be memorable.
Like the "TODAY'S SPECIAL" sign we started this whole shebang with!
One well-played hand will win over ten in haste any day of the week.
So what is your ONE focus for today?
Depending on your answer, you know what to do.
