Be Stingy

Not with your money so much, but with your minutes.

A time tightwad.

Who's unwilling to spend yours on just about everything...work-related, at least.

And no, this is nothing new. In past emails, I've said:

"Slow down to speed up."

"Do less to achieve more."

"Complexity' is the enemy of execution."

"Remember the rule of one: one offer, one price, one ad, one video, one email a day, one call close...until it's proven."

Basically:

"Stop majoring in minors."

I know. It's easier said than done.

Easy to monitor how your time is spent for a while...and then go right back to your old ways.

Letting emails, texts, calls, news, celebrity "news", sports, social media, stats, tech, and troubleshooting run amok.

Out of control (if you let it) it'll leave you no time for the few tasks that'll actually make you money.

And if I can make what I like to call "opportunity cost" real for you, it'll drive home this whole idea better than me jabbering.

My business coach actually did this exercise with me and it's pretty sobering...ready?

Let's calculate it.

Based on your own personal dream scenario...say your goal is to make $500,000 a year.

And you'll be taking off four full weeks to travel.

So that's 48 work weeks.

And you only wanna work 30 hours a week.

Cool, based on that you've got -- 48 x 30 = 1,440 hours -- to make that happen.

Next:

$500,000 / 1,440 = $347.22.

There's your hourly rate.

You'll need to earn $347.22 every hour for the next 12 months.

To bring in half a mill...

...and maintain a 30 hour/week schedule with four full weeks of non-working vacations.

Still with me?

Now let's figure it down to the minute.

So:

$347.22 / 60 = $5.79.

Round up to $6 to be safe.

Six bucks a minute!

All of a sudden sending that email kinda makes you pause.

It's got to be a pretty damn important email to cost you six smackaroos.

And how many minutes do you waste surfing, scrolling, refreshing, reading, replying, posting, commenting, liking, texting?

Too many.

I catch myself all the time.

Hopefully, after this exercise, you'll be a lil' less generous with your time.

So you'll have more for your family. Friends. Golf. Golf. Golf. Golf. Golf.

Sorry...it's been a crappy summer for golf.

End of sermon.

Talk soon,
