You know what I mean...
The annual "I hate daylight saving time" bitching and moaning.
I'm not going to waste your time ranting on whether or not daylight saving time should be abolished...I don't really give a rip about it one way or another.
"Ohhh...did someone get up on the wrong side of the bed, Art?"
I admit...the first couple of days after the time change, my body revolts a bit until the caffeine drip starts to kick in lol
But, people...there's a bigger, more important issue at stake here.
In case it helps you decide whether to read any further, I'm not going to spout out the canned platitudes that you've heard before.
There are plenty of blogs and articles out there if that floats your boat.
So be warned, this is going to get a little heavy.
Here's the thing...
The older we get, the harder it is to grab hold of those "punch in the gut" curve balls.
+ An unexpected health issue stops you in your tracks.
+ You find out a trusted employee has been majorly ripping you off.
+ An aging parent needs care.
+ You go through a divorce.
+ A big deal that has been in the works for months falls through...and making payroll is in jeopardy.
+ Your Adwords account gets suspended...and all of a sudden, your #1 traffic source is cutoff.
+ A client decides to sue you without "just" cause...or as I like to say "just because."
Conventional wisdom is to pivot, adjust and just keep plowing through life and business as normal.
Because you do have a contingency plan set up for unexpected gotchas, don't you?
That's b.s.
I honestly believe that the majority of us don't stop to think enough...process the change, the problem at hand.
But Art, you're a Libra and you need to weigh every option...several times.
Yep, and to a fault sometimes lol. So you got me there 🙂
My point is...
Quiet thinking before acting is a lost art form in our fast-paced world.
When my dad passed, I felt stuck for a good week.
I was just going through the motions.
My team had my back and stuff got done because we have systems in place.
But we aren't machines. Self-care sometimes trumps rigid discipline.
And after you've had time to process everything and it's decision time?
Well...as my dad used to say, "Sh*t or get off the pot" and make the tough calls.
So now, is losing an hour of sleep really that big a deal?
Nah! Suck it up, Buttercup 🙂
The time will change back in six months.
